The client sought to create a state-of-the-art, net-zero corporate Software Development Campus within the MIHAN SEZ, Nagpur. The design focused on achieving exceptional energy efficiency while ensuring occupant comfort in a flexible work environment. This newly inaugurated office campus goes beyond conventional standards, setting a benchmark for sustainable development. Strategically located in the Special Economic Zone near the Multi Modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) Commercial Hub, the campus serves as a model for modern, sustainable corporate infrastructure.
A true exemplary of sustainability, the design embodies the core principles of S.O.U.L. (Sustainable, Optimized, Unique, and Livable).
- Responsive Facade: Inspired by the seven swaras of Indian classical music and the grooves of a tiger's skin, the external shading devices are designed to adapt to the environment, reflecting cultural and natural elements
- Efficient Interior Planning: Approximately 20% of the building’s area is dedicated to vertical cores, while 80% is reserved for workspaces. With floor plates restricted to an 18-meter depth, 90% of the workspaces receive ample daylight, benefiting from natural light entering from both edges of each floor
- Optimized Design: The building's distinctive X-shaped form, aligned at 22.5 degrees to the Tropic of Cancer, strategically enhances both natural ventilation and daylighting. The central intersection serves as the core, optimizing spatial efficiency
- Cultural Representation: The building’s 30-meter tall RCC edges serve as urban canvases, with one side featuring a contemporary illustration of Nagpur Fort, symbolizing the city’s heritage, and the other depicting a 'mind tree,' embodying Infosys' innovative work culture
- Stakeholder Inclusivity: Collaborative workshops, design charrettes, and feedback sessions enabled active dialogue among architects, clients, and end-users, fostering a design process that was both inclusive and responsive to diverse needs
